Manufacturing Cost Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a Manufacturing Cost Accountant to support product costing, inventory accuracy, and financial insight within a complex manufacturing environment. This hands-on individual contributor role is responsible for maintaining standard costs, analyzing manufacturing variances, and ensuring the integrity of cost and inventory data within Epicor ERP. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with a working understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and purchasing to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review standard costs, bills of materials (BOMs), and routings in Epicor ERP to ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation
  • Perform cost roll-ups and analyze manufacturing variances, investigating differences between standard and actual costs
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and purchasing to ensure timely and accurate updates to material, labor, and overhead standards
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), finished goods, and inventory transactions to ensure accurate posting and financial reporting
  • Generate cost and inventory reports within Epicor to support management decision-making and identify cost improvement opportunities
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and COGS analysis
  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting related to standard costs and production overhead
  • Participate in system and process improvement initiatives to strengthen cost accounting workflows and ERP data integrity

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3–7 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Epicor ERP (costing, production, and inventory modules preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, variance tracking, and reporting
  • Solid understanding of standard cost systems, manufacturing variances, and inventory control
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across production, purchasing, engineering, and finance teams
  • Experience with ERP implementations or process improvement initiatives is a plus
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus
